Ryan Thomas is a Mexican-American Director of Photography known for his quick wit and even quicker lighting style. A member of the International Cinematographers Guild, IATSE Local 600 and a recent inductee into the ASC Vision Mentorship Program under the guidance of Lex DuPonte, ASC.
With over a decade of experience as a lighting technician and gaffer in IATSE Local 728, Ryan has spent years refining his technical expertise under numerous ASC Cinematographers before stepping into the DP role himself.
Ryan's films have been showcased at festivals such as Sundance, Slamdance, Cinequest, and Palm Springs Shorts Fest, with many of them receiving Vimeo Staff Picks. The short film he lensed, Squirrel, won the Grand Jury Prize at Fantastic Fest, played Sundance, and even received praise from the director of the 2001 classic Rat Race that it pays homage to.
